Aim of the game: expressing written opinions.
INTRODUCTION
The teacher previously created a domino game. Each domino peace has a picture of a job and next to it a description of another job. The students get in pairs and play the game using the same rules domino has. The student that wins will be able to choose one of the jobs to write a text about and also the winner will choose the occupation the loser will have to write about. Then they create a 5-lined paragraph about that occupation and what they think about it. If they like it or not. Where can you study to become that, where people who work as that profession work and also if they have another occupation that they like better using vocabulary like: I'd like (to) ____ because ____.____ is better than ____. The teacher writes the following questions on the board ( What do you know/think of ____?
Which are the benefits of ____? How much does a ____ earn/cost at ____? What does he/she do?
Where can you major in ___? ) in order to guide the students during the process of writing. Afterwards the teacher reviews the texts and provides feedback.
PREPARATION
1-
First you have to select the jobs you want your students
to review.
2-
After selecting them create a domino game on word using
pictures and descriptions like the following examples:

Graders
Aim:
Talking about different occupations.
Materials:
popsicle cards and cellphones ( Whatsapp).
Duration: Preparation: 1 hour. Playing the
game: 15 minutes.
Language focus: Different
professions, and jobs that exist and their names. Such as doctor, lawyer, chef,
firefighter, accountant, reporter, butcher, teacher, farmer, among others.
Aim of the game: talking and
asking questions to find out the job the partner has.
INTRODUCTION
At the beginning of the lesson teacher can start by asking a question like: What is your dream job? What would you like to do for a living? Afterwards the students will be separated in pairs by choosing popsicles of the same color without knowing who their partner will be. And then the corresponding classmate will be revealed and they will ask a series of questions using Whatsapp audios to try and find out their classmate’s job in their popsicles. They will have only one minute to ask questions to each other without saying what their job is. And then they will try to guess out loud.
PREPARATION
1-
Finding different flash
cards with jobs and professions in order to stick them in the popsicles.
2-
Then separating the
professions by color (two by each color)
3-
Then preparing the
questions the students can ask to each other.
PLAYING THE GAME
1.
Put the popsicles
facing down in a desk, that way the students cannot see what the job in the
Popsicle is.
2.
Ask the students to
make a line and randomly choose one of the popsicles.
3.
The ones with the
same color will be a pair. They cannot show the picture to the others, it has
to be a secret.
4.
Then the students
will have to go to the opposite sides of the classroom, in order to use the
Whatsapp audios.
5.
For a minute the
students will ask each other questions in order to guess the other’s job for
example: Where do you work? Do you work with people, animals or things? Did you
have to study a lot? When do you usually work? Do you drive a vehicle?
After the minute they
cannot talk to each other anymore and they will have one chance to guess what
the profession of their classmate is.

Aim:
writing about holidays and celebrtions.
Materials:
fidget spinner, roulette board
Duration: Preparation: 2 hours. Playing the
game: 20 minutes.
Language focus: Different holidays
and celebrations and activities. The students will use the following
vocabulary: What's your favorite celebration? When is it celebrated?
How is it celebrated? My family is
used to going /eating, celebrating, etc. on____? I prefer ____, etc.
Aim of the game: describing
through writing certain holiday or celebration.
INTRODUCTION
The beginning of the
activity is simple the teacher will introduce the topic and ask some simple
questions regarding the topic. Then one by one the students will come in front
of the class and spin the fidget spinner that is on the roulette board previously
created. The spinner has an arrow when the spinner stops and the arrow is in
one direction the students will have to write a descriptive text about the
holiday that he chose with the spinner. Each student will do this until all of
them have holiday or celebration to write about they will use this vocabulary: What's your favorite celebration? When is it celebrated?
How is it celebrated? My family is
used to going /eating, celebrating, etc. on____? I prefer ____, etc. describing
if the like this holiday or not. Or what people usually do on this day. At the
end the teacher will check the texts and read some in front of the class.
PREPARATION
1. First
you should choose which holidays and celebrations you are going to use for the
roulette.
2. Then
using software like paint, canva or
any other image editing tool create a roulette like this:

Aim:
identifying minorities and expressing respect and opinions about it.
Materials:
cardboard circles (depending on the number of students) markers, speakers,
music.
Duration: Preparation: 1 hour playing the game: 20 minutes
Language focus: speaking
suggesting solutions (Who are senior citizens? How can you help /take care...? Could
we...? Let's... Why don't we...? I'd like to..I don't think... I wouldn't... I'm
sorry about.../ etc.)
Aim of the game: identifying senior citizens, minority groups and
the situations they live.
INTRODUCTION
The teacher will place the different colored cardboard circles (green, red, blue, yellow) like the ones in a Twister, on the floor. Then a song will be played and the students will dance around the circle, it is similar to the musical chairs game, but there is a circle for each student. When the music stops the students have to stand over a circle. The ones who stand on the same colors are going to make a team. Afterwards each team will receive a situation related to the topic and they will have to mimic the situation in front of the class, while the other teams try to guess what it is. For example: a pregnant woman trying to sit on the bus but no one is helping her or giving her a seat. When the students correctly guess a conversation will be held and they will discuss what they think about what happened if they agree or not with it, using the language functions given…
PREPARATION
1. First the teacher will create the cardboard circles, the same
quantity of each color, in this case two.
1. Then the teacher will write down different situations on paper for
the students to choose.
2. The teacher will look for a fun dance song on the internet to use it
for the game.
