TYPES OF FOOD, EATING HABITS AND BEHAVIORS AT THE TABLE

Name: TWISTER

Aim: Talking about types of food, eating habits and behaviors at the table.

Materials:  Colored pieces of paper, a roulette.

Duration: 10 minutes.

Language focus: What's your favorite food? What food do you like? What do you like to eat? We eat a light breakfast, a heavy lunch and a medium size dinner. Ice cream with peanuts. Fish and chips. We prefer... Lunch is more formal. Our main meal is ... What food do/does ... like the best. In my family, we set the table this way.

Objective of the game:
The main idea is to enforce the topic being studied by answering what is requested.

Introduction
The teacher introduces a selection of different types of food, eating habits and behaviors at the table by using a PowerPoint Presentation. Give the student the chance to repeat the different structures, words and also take a look of the different pictures.

Preparation
1. First, in the board there are going to be stick some colored pieces of paper.
2. Second, in a box there will be several pieces of paper numbered from 1 to 2. Each student is going to take one of this pieces of paper. It is in this way that the teams are going to be form equitably.
3. Third, students get into the teams.

Play the Game
1. First, the teacher explains the activity to the class.
2. Second, the teacher arrange the class into the teams and ask students to stand up and come to the front.
3. Then, for each team each student will have the turn to rotate the roulette. Depending of the color in which the roulette stops the student will have to look in to the board and find the piece of colored paper that corresponds to the color that the roulette frame.
4. Finally, behind each piece of paper there is an instruction or question that students must follow or answer.

The instructions students will find behind the colored papers will be:

·         What is your favorite food?
·         What food do you like to eat for dinner?
·         What kind of food do you prefer? Healthy or junk food?
·         Mention 3 behaviors of manners that we must have in the table.
·     Based on the picture. Make a short story with the stage you see and also mention the ingredients.
·          According to the picture, make a recipe using the ingredients that you see in the picture.
·         Make a drawing where you use at least 2 food ingredients.  
·         Look at the picture and answer. Would you like to eat this artwork?
