HOLIDAYS AND CELEBRATIONS IN COSTA RICA WITH SOME CELEBRATIONS IN ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES

Aim: According to some descriptions find their holiday pair and exchange different descriptions about holidays.

Materials: Sticks, picture cards and WhatsApp.

Duration: 10 minutes.

Language focus: Birthday, Independence Day, Teacher’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas, Children’s Day and World Day for Cultural Diversity.

Aim of the game: Students to identify different descriptions to find the image that responds to the corresponding celebration about Holidays and Celebrations, and then describe how they celebrate the holiday using WhatsApp.

Introduction

The teacher introduces some Holidays and Celebrations in order to review and then play “Chasing Holiday”.

Play the Game

1. First, the teacher explains the activity to the students. Everyone is going to have a picture card and a description and what they have to do is to look for their pair around the class.

2. After, when students already have found their pairs they have to make use of WhatsApp to by using it create a conversation describing what they used to do in Holidays.
